Bunker Shots from Wet Sand – Golf tips and golf lesson on how to hit bunker shots where the sand is wet or compact.
► Wet Bunker Shot Tips – Video Golf Lesson Summary
A lob wedge can be quite useful when trying to hit a bunker shot when the sand is wet or otherwise compact. That’s because those lie conditions require a different shot than your standard bunker shot from soft sand conditions.
In contrast to the 2 inch behind the ball target, you should aim to see your club dig into the ground 1 inch behind the ball when the sand is wet or compact. And you should take a lob wedge instead of a sand wedge.
The added loft will help get the ball high into the air, despite the poor lie. And the less severe bounce will help prevent the club from bouncing off the hard sand and hitting the ball directly.
